The High Line at Dusk
On a rare foggy day when the sky's still blue, The High Line becomes almost fairytale-like. This is when the city's building lights start to turn on one by one. This is when things slow down because of poor visibility.
The foggy atmosphere dampens the sound of people walking and talking. They sound almost like cats walking and whispering. You are above, so no traffic sounds either. As if you are in a cotton candy pillow.
Peek your head out to the street below and you realize that there are cars, and they certainly do make noise.
Quickly come back inside and find your secret noise-cancelling spot again. Softly illuminating orange lights will make you feel like you are in your living room.

Are we in 2019 Los Angeles? No, we are in Hudson Yards. This was Westyard Distribution Center, now known as Five Manhattan West after the brutalist architecture concrete exterior was replaced with a glass facade in 2017. The Associated Press had their headquarters here until then.
